Welcome to the last issue for 2024 and what a bumper issue it is!

One of the things that impresses me the most when we put the Blackwood Times together is the amount of activity there is in our community and this issue is jam packed with community news and events.

It is also great to see the changes in Martin Street, even though some of these are controversial, with the roadworks, the Post Office renovations and the options we now have for food.  It is also exciting to see that our local watering hole has new owners and is getting a new lease of life.

Blackwood is full of history, and we will continue to bring you articles about our historical background as well as letting you know about the many adventures you can have here from the amazing bush walks, exploring our gold mining history or enjoying the fishing in the Lerderderg River which Ned Cassidy reports on.

This time of year is my favourite in Blackwood, despite the dreaded lawn mowing, as the gardens come to life, the weather is getting better and we can get outside and enjoy the space.  It is always great to see so many others out and about as well.

The Blackwood Times is a community newspaper run by volunteers to bring you the news form Blackwood and surrounding districts. The volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year to make sure readers are informed and have some fun with community activities..  If you like to join the team, please feel free to reach out to us at: Team@theblackwoodtimes.com.au

Well I will finish up by wishing you and your families a very happy and safe holiday period and we will see you all again in 2025.
