There is always something new to discover when it comes to Blackwood! I did not know that Ned Kelly passed through Blackwood in his early days. The article on Ned reveals some little known information. I met up with Steve, the author, and asked how the article came about. Interestingly it was due to someone asking about Powers Bend in Barrys Reef, and if it was connected to Harry Power. It’s an interesting read and showcases events 10 years before Ned’s more famous times and adventures.
It’s also great to see a new Mayor elected. Cr Steve Vendetti-Taylor has been a great supporter of Blackwood and has enabled several of our community groups to make progress (where none had happened before) by guiding groups through the bureaucracy of our local council.
We have a full-page advert inviting us all to Carols by Candlelight at St Martin’s Chapel. I hope there is a great turn out this year and, on that note, we hope you enjoy this end of year issue of the Times.
