Here we are again Blackwood,
Happy 15th Birthday to us. Who knew back in 2008, when we took the Blackwood Newsletter over from Robina Brown, that we would still be slogging it out 15 years on. We are gearing up to hand the publication over to the community by getting incorporated. If you are interested in playing a crucial role in the future of your community paper, we would love to hear from you. One of the best things about this issue is, as Lisa (our communication person) delightedly said “This issue is writing itself!”. And it has! It is also the most controversial issue we have ever produced, as seen in Letters to the Editor on p10-11. Unlike commecial papers, the aim of the team is not to create content, rather we want to give the community a voice, whether you agree or disagree with our readers opinions, please remember not to shoot the messengers.
Did you know that every issue of The Blackwood Times is in the National edeposit (NED) library, which is a collaboration between Australia’s 9 national, state & territory libraries, responding to the major challenge of capturing & preserving the digital documentary history of Australia for the future. We also have copies of most issues, so if you want a backcopy these are available by donation.
On behalf of the team I want to send a huge bouquet to Edward Zanon who is gearing up to start up Ed’s Shed, specialising in electronics repair & small-run manufacturing. I’m so jealous because he has bought a couple of 3D printers – I can’t wait to see what he does with them. Watch this space!
Please remember we need content. If you would like deadline reminders, simply sign-up to our list to the right of this article.
