Well, that was a first for me in Blackwood…Snow! While a few people took photos and videos it was hard to make out the snowflakes and, let’s be honest… there weren’t many! Even so, I was in Martin Street to see them fall. Speaking of Martin Street, there is a significant amount of work going on. Jeanne has put together a great article with many voices of Blackwoodians on the changes we are seeing.
I guess by now we have all noticed the “for sale” sign on the Pub is no longer present…I’m sure we will soon hear from the new owners and settle the chatter around town about the Pub’s future.
This issue I’m pleased to see a serial introduced about one of Blackwood’s pioneers Isaac Povey. I hope we continue to see the story evolve…great stuff Tom! It’s also great to see the massive amount of effort the Blackwood Cricket Club has put in to raise funds for the children’s playground. Well done to those volunteers.
Recently many local kids got out their cameras (or their parent’s phone) and sent in some great photos. Every entrant has won a $20 prize to spend at the Post Office. Look out for the next issue where we will have a new competition to win 2 x $20 gift cards for the Blackwood General.
Enjoy the start of Spring and seeing the little ducklings around town. You may notice extra advertisements this issue. These not only enable us to add more colour pages than ever before, but also assist the community directly as the Times has managed to donate $500 to the Children’s Playground at the Recreation Reserve as well as sponsor the face painter at the event. We hope you enjoy this issue of The Times.
PS due to The Times being fully volunteer lead as-well as the Grand final long weekend we were delayed a little bit so expect to see the in-print copy in the usual locations in the next day or so!
