Blackwood Festival

The historic village of Blackwood, on the Melbourne edge of Victorias’ Wombat State Park, once again opens its welcoming arms and eucalyptus-covered hills to us few lucky folk and our families.

The Blackwood Festival is our annual weekend of merry music and country culture at the foot of the Lerderderg State Park. We’re a summer musical haven, flooding the mountain forest with the echoes of Irish, Bluegrass, Country, Blues, Folk and Rockabilly as well as stomping feet, clapping hands and the sound of people generally enjoying paradise.

The festival runs over the weekend of the Melbourne Cup & market stalls will operate on Saturday Nov 4 & Sunday Nov 5 from 10am til 5pm.

Historically the festival draws up to 1200 music lovers & families from around Australia who come to see the international & national musicians.

Blackwood Festival is a celebration of workshops, dance, demonstrations, art, craft & local cuisine stalls and fine food fare. It’s all the good stuff we like to share with our friends.

Blackwood Festival is seeking fine food and beverage producers, local farm stalls, traditional tradespeople, instrument makers, artists, crafters and retailers that showcase bespoke and handcrafted wares to present at this year’s festival. If you’re a producer and maker from the surrounding area, we’d love for you to apply.

This year the festival committee has invited the (volunteer based) Blackwood CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)  to co-ordinate the market stalls to raise funds for their continuing work in the community. Cost for stalls is a tiny, weeny $30 for Saturday & $45 for Saturday & Sunday. (Payable on acceptance & prior to stall allocation).
