BLACKWOOD, YOU ARE GROUSE.
When the whole world upended, it felt that our little town had miraculously landed on top. “Where else would you rather be?” we kept asking each other, not quite believing our luck. Nature was turning it on for us, the weather was kind, the people even kinder.
Everyone’s been out taking advantage of the walker’s paradise that is Blackwood. They’ve been busy with long-neglected projects, patching the house or putting in the veggie garden. And they’ve been looking out for each other.
What’s the crucial factor to surviving a crisis? Not money, not infrastructure, not services. It’s been shown time & time again that community connectedness, social capital, is the thing that gets you through.
So, yes, we have been lucky. But a lot of that luck we made ourselves as we invested in our community. We’ve been shopping for each other, dropping off meals, checking on those in need, babysitting for others, entertaining each other, swapping veggies, books & DVD’s.
The stories in this edition of the Blackwood Times stand as testament to the utter grouseness of this little town, sitting here on top of
the world.

WILL YOU JOIN OUR TEAM?
No matter what your skills & time limitations are please reach out – the more the merrier I say! Please email team(@theblackwoodtimes.com.au & Lisa will be in touch.
Terri is still doing the Times invoicing but she has a lot on her plate as progress vice-president so we would love to find someone who would like to take on this role.
When this crisis is over Brendan & I will continue to assist the new team to find their feet, but only in an advisory capacity, they hope the final hand-over to the community will be completed by the end of the year.
