Greetings Blackwoodians and friends.

How good is it to feel some warmth on our backs after such a long, wet, cold winter. Deciduous trees and shrubs are daring to bud and open; birds and bees are getting noisier and we all may dare to risk putting the thermals away for a few months. So, in this edition of The Times we have articles on caring for a Blackwood garden and a Garden for Wildlife Gardening Guide; walking tracks that will be more enticing and a cricket season that is about to kick off. Grass will need mowing soon!

The second part of the Jinny and Brendan article as well as the interview with Margot Hitchcock will make for a good read. These icons of Blackwood deserve our gratitude for their years of contribution to our community.

An article on the upgrade of the post office is a must read. Carol and Martyn have done such a great job for us over the last 5 years and no-one will be looking forward to the renovations being completed more than them. Thanks go to Simon and Simon the Coffee Roasters who have provided fantastic support over this time.

Well worth a look is the remarkable 3 minute animated film produced by Kathy Holowko and Daniel Williams for the Landcare Group in the article Caring for our Patch.

As ever we hope you enjoy this issue and look forward to meeting and greeting as we all move away from our log fires – gradually.
