“I have dog envy. There it is – I’ve said it out loud.
For all the wonderful contributions in this edition, the ones I honed in on were Pet Shenangans, Fletcher’s Adventure & Blackwoofs. Why? Becuase there is noithing more wonderful that the unconditional love a dog/cat/bird/donkey/llama (you get the picture) provides when times are tough.
One of the positive outcomes of this pandemic is that pet rescue centres & animal shelters are just about empty of surrendered animals. This is great news – except when you are searching for your fur-ever friend as we currently are. As I write this, we have an appointment at the Bendigo Animal Shelter to meet a 3yo kelpie who has become available. (More on Kelpies on p16). But she may be adopted before we get there …… arggghhh! You know I think the chances of me winning lotto are currently better than getting a dog!
While winter has settled in, & it’s fair to say that times aren’t great in our fair state, there is still much to be thankful for here in Blackwood. I think this edition reflects all that is positive in our community – we are definitely all in this together!
See you next edition.

WILL YOU JOIN OUR TEAM?
No matter what your skills & time limitations are please reach out – the more the merrier I say! Please email team(@theblackwoodtimes.com.au & Lisa will be in touch.
Fiona is taking on the Times invoicing & financial work which is incredibly valuable especially as we prepare to apply for grants.
We’d love to find some one who gets about a bit who can do the distribution – this is a fortnightly run to Trentham to top up after the issue has been distributed to all our outlets. Please email editor@theblackwoodtimes.com.au if you can take this on.
When this crisis is over Brendan & I will continue to assist the new team to find their feet, but only in an advisory capacity, they hope the final hand-over to the community will be completed by the end of the year.

Of course all our wonderful contributors articles are scattered through-out the issue.
