Blackwood is a busy place, as highlighted in this issue. Our majorevent, the Woodchop and Easter Carnival attracted over 3,000 visitors this year. There are few events like it around Australia! Hours can be spent looking at skilled woodchoppers, eating delicious foods, listening to great music, throwing a gumboot or two, showing off your dog and many other riveting events. It was especially satisfying for me to see so many visitors from across the state at our Carnival this year.

But it wasn’t just the Carnival that’s had us Blackwoodians out and about over the last couple of months. St Martin’s Chapel served as a brilliant venue for a wide range of events and entertainment including:

Easter Sunday Bingo; the Whodunnit, orchestrated by Robyn and Wally Zanon’s daughter Louise; an art exhibition by Trentham artist, Gayle Cykner; the amazing Scottish duo, Chris Stout & Catriona McKay who launched their Australia-wide tour from Blackwood, and many other activities.

Blackwood’s volunteer groups have also been busy. Special mention goes to Landcare who collaborated with Moorabool Council to establish planter beds on the corner of Golden Point and Byers Roads, making our town even more attractive. And of course, there’s the volunteer team behind the Blackwood Times. I would like to particularly thank Paul Kukiel, Kathy B and Alison Acevedo for their work in helping to put this bumper issue together.

Thanks also to everyone for sending in your photos. We had hundreds submitted for this issue but can’t attribute photographers to each image. A big thanks to Peter Donnelly, Bryan Rainford, Gracie White, John Kemp and Hannah Perkins. Sorry if I have missed someone.

Stay warm everyone!
