I can’t believe it is a year since I last was the editor for our award-winning Community Newspaper. As I reflect on what has changed in that time, I am pleasantly surprised.
The centre of Blackwood has had an uplift with new landscaping, pathways and road resealing. The Post Office Café has finished their renovations and is looking great, and the Blackwood Hotel has had a total transformation and is bringing so many people into our tiny town. So much so that on most weekends finding a park in town is getting impossible. But we are not complaining about that! Martin St Coffee Roasters continues to thrive and hosted the recent Open Mic nights.
It is also great to see the community making full use of St Martin’s Chapel, which is often busy with many varied events. It is even better news that it is about to get a full kitchen overhaul which you can read more about in this issue.
This year has also brought us great events such as the Disco Inferno night, movie nights and our award-winning Easter Carnival. Sadly, one of our favourites has come to an end with the last Bush Dance being held in August, but we have lots of photos of the event in this issue. A big thank you to everyone that pulled these events together. I, for one, am looking forward to what the next year is going to bring to Blackwood!
