Hello again Blackwood,
Did you know that The Blackwood TImes is produced by a handful of local volunteers? We are not photographers, journos or writers though. Our contribution is to compile your submissions bi-monthly into a paper for you & your visitors to enjoy. It’s all about you, us & our community. But, especially with restrictions limiting events & activities, it’s hard for us to gather content by ourselves.
We know we have loads of creative souls in Blackwood, Dales Creek, Greendale, Barrys Reef, Newbury & everywhere between & we want your stories, ideas, photos & articles – every so often when you have something to give us or as regular contributors!
Regular submissions are due on the 15th of the month prior to publication & news & last minute things are due on the 20th (see dates below). We try our best to get the paper out on the 1st Friday of the due month.
After the deadline, the team gets busy. Lisa spends hours collating submissions, proofing & responding to queries & then Kathy & Jinny spend a full weekend, side-by-side, putting the paper together. Kath preparing photos, researching, typing & finalising last minute articles while Jinny fits it all together like a jigsaw. Finally it is printed out for proofing by Brendan, artwork finalised & sent off to the printer.
Once it has been collected it needs to be stamped up & distributed. Then converted to colour & uploaded here.Then & only then can we relax for another 2 months.
